This rare technique of gradation is unique to Kyoto Yuzen and can only be created by the top artisans. The Yushoku patterns are traditional designs used in the fashion of court nobility since the Heian period (794-1185) for their costumes, furnishings, portable shrines, architectural interiors, and so on.
